SENEDIA Issues Call for Defense Scholarship Applications
Five $2,000 Scholarships Available for RI Students in STEM
MIDDLETOWN, RI – SENEDIA, the Alliance for Defense Tech, Talent, and Innovation, is now accepting applications for five $2,000 college scholarships to New England residents enrolled in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Applications are due by Friday, April 25, and must include a brief, 500-word essay describing the student’s interest in a rewarding STEM career in the defense industry.
“With more than $40 billion in labor income supported by the Defense Cluster in New England, STEM careers in defense and related industries offer high-wage, high-tech, high-demand opportunities that make a difference,” said Molly Donohue Magee, chief executive officer at SENEDIA. “We encourage students in our region to apply for this scholarship and continue to pursue a purpose-driven career in defense that helps to fuel and grow our economy while protecting our national security.”
Student applicants must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of New England (CT, ME, MA, NH, RI, or VT), and must be completing their two-year associates degree in 2026 or entering their third year of study (or higher) in the 2025-2026 academic year. The student may be transitioning from institutions with a two-year program into a four-year program of study.
