Despite the challenges of the pandemic and distance learning, the Newport PTECH Cybersecurity students remain focused on developing their cybersecurity knowledge and skills, while pursuing their high school diploma and an A.S. Cybersecurity degree at CCRI.
With over 100 students enrolled in the program, students are actively engaged in their coursework at the Newport Area Career & Technical Center and CCRI, while also competing in CyberPatriot and the CyberStart challenge. “We have three teams competing in CyberPatriot with one of those teams being PTECH students that are also JROTC cadets. We also have over 15 students competing in the CyberStart competition. It’s an inspiring thing to see in the current learning environment” said Newport Area Career and Technical Center PTech program director Rob Young.
SENEDIA continues its support of the Newport PTECH Cybersecurity program and has planned virtual events throughout the year including a monthly Defense Industry Speaker Series. If you are interested in being part of the speaker series or panel discussions, please contact the SENEDIA director of education outreach, Linda Larsen [email protected].
We applaud the PTECH Cyber students, and wish them all the best!
